Biography of François Boucher
François Boucher was a French painter, draftsman, engraver, and decorator.
He was born on September 29, 1703, in Paris, where he lived his entire life.

Boucher's most notable teacher was François Lemoyne. In 1723, he received the grand prize from the Royal Academy and in 1727, he embarked on a four-year trip to Italy. In Rome, he was greatly influenced by the decorative works of Pietro da Cortona and Giovanni Lanfranco. It is also believed that Boucher was familiar with the Venetian tradition of monumental-decorative painting, although it is unknown if he ever visited Venice.
